This is where it all started. In the bare wasteland that was the French metal scene in 1987, "Licensed to Thrash" felt and first and foremost like a nuclear detonation. Taking cues from both the bludgeoning german and american thrash scene, two of the country then youngest yet most rabid acts AGRESSOR and LOUDBLAST did way more than just slamming the doors open, they virtually obliterate them with "Licensed to Thrash".
Alex Colin-Tocquaine from AGRESSOR remembers staying four days in a local studio to commit to tape the first versions of future classics such as "Bloodfeast" or "Brainstorm" as something very special :
" We obviously have progressed a lot since - we used then to label us as ‘speed black-metal’ – but the eighteen years old version was elated !
Especially since both Euronymous and Necrobutcher popped up during the sessions unannounced to hang out with us. It feels good thirty-two years later to reissue in its original form.”
While those tracks had been added as bonuses to a couple of reissues in the past, this is the first time they’ll be widely available in their original form, as it should be to take us back to those glorious times when extreme metal was still fresh,
raw-as-fuck and full of juvenile energy. Thrash ‘til death !!!!
